How much is the fee for filing an eviction notice in the State of Minnesota ?
Q. My mom was charged a fee of $322 for court costs of an eviction that was filed by the manager of the apartment she lives in. The court date would have been on November 7, 2006, but the late payment of Octobers rent and all other fees was paid on October 25 the day after the eviction notice was filed. My brother paid the amount of $2305 which included the rent fee for the month of October $929 at which time my mom was still employed as the caretaker of the apartment and should have been prorated the rent since as the caretaker she only paid $860 a month for rent.

A. You will have to call the court and find out the actual filing fee and any associated costs (service of the summons, etc). The manager may have had a lawyer prepare the notice (if any) and complaint which costs money also. You should ask for an itemization of the costs from the apartment manager as you are entitled to see what you paid for.

How good are the flat fee realtor services?
Q. I have been looking at a lot of flat fee realtor services. Essentially, it is still FSBO, but I pay a flat fee and get MLS listing, signs, flyers, lockbox, paperwork, etc. Would this be a good option?

What does an amenities fee pay for in an apartment community anyway?
Q. They have a pool and a commons area and locked gates, and business center, but I used to live in places with these things and never had to pay an amenities fee in the 1990s when I rented.

A. Where I rent (which is in Australia) you don't pay the amenity fees, thats paid by the landlord. That may just be standard for here though. I think these fees have always existed, they pay for pool upkeep, lift maintenance, cleaners etc. I doubt though that its your responsibility to pay those fees.
