A toy is a thing used in play. Toys are usually associated with children and pets, but it is not unusual for adult beings and some non-domesticated dogs, cats, mice etc. to play with toys. Many items are processed to serve as toys, but goods, or (game-centric) services produced for other purposes can also be used as toys. A child may pick up a household item and "fly" it around pretending that it is an airplane, or an animal might play with a pinecone by batting at it, biting it, chasing it, or by throwing it up in the air. Some toys are produced primarily as collector's items and are not intended to be played with. The origin of toys is prehistoric; dolls representing infants, animals, and soldiers, as well as representations of tools used by adults are readily found at archaeological sites. The origin of the word "toy" is unknown, but it is believed that it was first used in the 14th century. Toys, and play in general, are important when it comes to growing up and learning about the world around us. The young use toys and play to discover their identity, help their bodies grow strong, learn cause and effect, explore relationships, and practice skills they will need as adults. Adults use toys and play to form and strengthen social bonds, teach, remember and reinforce lessons from their youth, discover their identity, exercise their minds and bodies, explore relationships, practice skills, and decorate their living spaces. Toys are more than simple amusement, they and the ways that they are used profoundly influence many aspects of life. From Google News Search: "Toy" What is the best toy/bone/treat a poodle puppy can chew on to keep his teething occupied? Q. He is 2 months old and loves to chew and bite. As we teach him boundaries, he still needs something to chew. We've got his rope toy, doggie butterfly stuffed animal, and a couple other plastic toys. Any suggestions? We don't know if there is a bone or other type of toy to keep him busy. Asked by ub_walt - Sat Jun 13 01:39:50 2009 - - 10 Answers - 0 Comments A. I always get my puppies hard bones to chew so that they wear down those sharp little puppy teeth. Be sure to get one that won't splinter as he chews on it and no rawhide, hooves or pigs ears. I've heard stories of puppies dying because they bits of these things stuck in their digestive tract. Pet shops sell real bones that have been prepared specially for dogs to chew on. Answered by amiboo - Sat Jun 13 01:47:49 2009 How much to spend for a donated toy? Q. Kind of an odd (and very early) question, but I'm trying to budget ahead of time and was just wondering, how much do you think is appropriate to spend on a toy that I will donate to Toys for Tots or a similar Christmas toy drive? I'm asking becasue I don't want to "cheat" a child by giving a relatively small gift, nor do I want to make other recipients feel bad by giving an overly extravagant gift. Please no mean answers; I've just never donated to this type of charity before (not since church days when I was very young, anyway) so I want to know what people give on average. Of course I'm looking for high-quality, age-appropriate, educational and fun toys--don't worry, I'm not planning on "cheaping out" at all! Thanks for input/sharing… [cont.] Asked by stackers - Fri Sep 14 05:10:15 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. I have done toys for tots in the past and found it to be a very rewarding experience. In shopping for these drives, and for my own kids, I have found that at many retail stores such as Wal Mart and Target that, especially around Christmas, there are toys that are not name brand, but are a great value for what you get. In purchasing for my own kids, I can attest to the durability and quality, as well. For example, I found one of those wooden train sets for just $20, and it was a pretty extensive track. If you look for items like this that are more bang for the buck, then you can buy more of them or buy for more children. My favorite is the Salvation Army's angel tree, because there is a wish list on it, and the gifts are distributed… [cont.] Answered by lulu muffin - Fri Sep 14 10:08:25 2007 What is the toy advertised on the Saturday cartoons that is a tower where you can grow stuffed animals inside?
Q. My son asked for this toy for the holidays but all he can tell me about it is that it is a tower where you do something to it every day and then a stuffed animal grows inside it and eventually pops out. It was also described as "tall". It is on the commercials during the Saturday morning cartoons on WB - I think during Dinosaur King. What is the name of the product so I can buy it for him? Thanks! Asked by aussing - Sat Nov 29 22:17:37 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. They are called My Meebas. They are like virtual pets that you feed, nurture, etc. By doing this for a while, it will unlock and open up and there is a small stuffed animal inside Answered by Caleb's Mom - Sun Nov 30 08:25:21 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Toy" |
