What animal based ingredients are now mostly plant based?
Q. I've heard that some ingredients are now (mostly) plant based mono and diglycerides. Could anyone please tell me some ingredients that are now vegetarian.

A. I wish that I could say it about gelatin and rennet, but no company uses those 'plant-based', in general. I really don't know of any. Glycerin is one, now plant based in most indgrediants. I'm sorry, I don't know of any others.

A. Defining success is difficult. Longevity (non-extinction)? Weight of numbers? Total mass? For longevity of existence -probably viruses. They have been in existence before there was cellular life, and they are still here. There are more of them than anything else - even bacteria have viruses. By sheer bulk, the bacteria would outweigh all other life forms.By any standard humans can not yet be considered successful. We have only been here a few million years, much less than the 200 million that the dinosaurs were around. We don't outnumber rats or mice, so we can't use that as a measure. We would have to wait a few more million years to see how successful we are. Another way to look at evolutionary success is from a genetic point of view.… [cont.]

A. When we think of current flow as an indication of electron flow, we think of electrons moving in a wire. But they move from what we call the negative terminal to the positive terminal. Convention has the current moving from the positive terminal to the negative terminal. This is because the polarity of batteries was assigned before we understood about the electrons. We had a 50% chance of getting it right, but since we had no idea of the fundamental reality behind the current, there is no, well ... fault in it.
