What book has changed your life the most? How did it affect your way of life and your perspectives?
Q. Many people claim that books have changed their lives. For you, what was the book that you fully read and understood and noticed that it had an effect on your life? What book made you want to change for the better? What book made you realize the meaning of life? What book changed you as a whole?

A. I don't think there is a master narrative that told me how and why to live. However, books seem to help me on my way wherever I go. For instance, Rebbeca by Daphne DuMaurier made me love the classics. Sula by Toni Morrison made me appreciate my mother. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen made me understand my father. A love for the Harry Potter series gave me something in common with my sister. My husband initiated our first conversation with me at a cafe because I was reading The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, and he had enjoyed the book previously. However, if you want a book that will change your life without any outside factors, Siddhartha is a good one. Herman Hesse also wrote a book called Demian that I think is… [cont.]

What could have changed the spin of the earth to change a perpetual summer to the present 4 seasons?
Q. When the mammoths were extincted and frozen alive and solid 10 thousand years ago. Proof that the earths physical poles were changed suddenly.
Asked by ifoyo - Wed Feb 3 01:24:53 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Seasons come about because of the tilt of the earth's axis, not its spin. Outside of a huge collision, for which there is no evidence, the tilt wouldn't change quickly. It's likely that the sudden climate change being discussed came about due to an abrupt change in weather patterns rather than because of the spin axis tilt. If you want to know how intense the sun would be at your location if the earth didn't tilt on its axis, it would be what is it on the vernal and autumnal equinoxes. That would be your year-round sun.

In 1966 there were no personal computers; I worked in a new hospital which was one of the first in our area to be "computerized"; the computers were huge "machines" housed in a second floor room where the temperature was rigidly coolly controlled; the hospital had central air conditioning -- almost unheard of in northern Ohio in those days. What happens when a deceased parent never changed his marital status after a divorce?

A. You will have to present his Decree Absolute to the insurance company to confirm the divorce was finalized. However, that only confirms he was legally divorced. He really should have changed the beneficiary if he wanted the insurance left to someone else. It can be rather surprising sometimes how many people assume they know who the beneficiary of insurance is...it isn't always a spouse! I have insurance and I've requested it be divided amongst my grandchildren. It would be up to the Executor of your father's Will to make an appeal to have it changed. As for the sex, my fiance is in Afghanistan and we haven't had sex in 8 months (when he came home for R&R) so I have forgotten what sex feels like at this point in time lol. Q. How did the diameter of the field of view change when you changed the microscope's objective lenses? Please help. Thanks!
Asked by J-ME - Sun Apr 11 12:53:10 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The field of view decreases when a higher power objective is used. The field of view is how much of the sample you can see, and if you're at a higher magnification, you won't be able to see as large an area of the sample - just a lot more detail in a small area.

How often do you need to get your roters changed on a four year old car?
Q. I live in Los Angeles and only have 37,000 miles on my car (Saab 9-3). Everytime I come in to get my break pads changed, they tell me I need new roters. I've already changed them once. Is it possible they're lying about having to change them again? This seems a bit excessive to me.
Asked by Sam - Thu Nov 15 12:24:04 2007 - - 14 Answers - 0 Comments
A. They are definitely lying to you. Your rotors wear out just like your brake pads but at a much slower rate. Usually they just have to be turned, which means they have to file them down so they are even all around because braking creates uneven wear on them. Depending on the type of brake pads (metallic or organic) your frequency of braking and pressure used (if you have ABS your golden) your rotors should last an average of 30 to 40 thousand miles.

What were some reasons music changed during the renaissance?
Q. please not just a wikipedia link. appreciated to give a list of reasons it could have changed, for example perhaps increase of education due to the renaissance, and why education increased? please facts only.
Asked by Umair Nadeem - Wed Oct 14 11:16:39 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Some changes were influenced by printing -- it was much easier to share ideas and compositions, which in turn meant that more people could become involved in music. This naturally meant that there was something of a ferment in terms of inspiration and creativity. Royal and aristocratic patrons, recognizing these developments, encouraged them and hired musicians, which in turn meant that music as a career became even more attractive New instruments were invented, too, and these allowed for more imaginative explorations of musical possibilities. The site below should be useful. It's not a Wiki site.

A. Dr. Craig Venter and scientist Francis Collins of the National Institute of Health jointly made the announcement of the mapping of the human genome in 2000. Upon examining the data from the genome mapping, he realized that although we are indeed further apart genetically from each other, (1-3% instead of the assumed 1%), the types of variations don't warrant calling each other different races. He says quote.."Race is a social concept. It's not a scientific one. There are no bright lines (that would stand out), if we could compare all the sequenced genomes of everyone on the planet." "When we try to apply science to try to sort out these social differences, it all falls apart." Different races are when you talk about cats, dogs, horses,… [cont.]
