Asked by Q - Fri May 22 10:36:45 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There's NO such thing as a commercial monologue! There's commercial copy. Try looking in magazines such as People Magazine. Look for ads that you could see yourself using or selling. Usually in the ad, there's a paragraph. Copy that and VOILA! that's your commercial copy/script. By the way, Sylvia Ferguson is a SCAM agency! If you get signed by her, she'll make you pay $140 for this bogus casting site called E-Talent Files. She says that it will help you get more jobs, when in reality it DOESN'T! It's another source of income for her. She's ruined her reputation because of it. I audition for major commercials and NEVER see her on the sign in sheets. She's also NOT state licensed. You can't legally function as an agency if you don't… [cont.]

What speed are commercial planes going when they appear to be hanging in the air?
Q. When I've looked at commercial jetliners that are approaching an airport, they often appear to be just hanging in the air, going only a few miles an hour, if any. How slowly are they actually going? What is the slowest a commercial jetliner can go, and stay aloft?
Asked by BreadCollision - Wed Aug 1 09:51:37 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. the two answers above are right. but i think a small clarification is in order. an aircraft really don't "know" how fast it is going compared to the ground (where you as the observer are). all it cares about is the airspeed (the speed of air flowing over the wings). therefore, if there is a strong headwind or a gust (these can go up to 50km/h) the air speed will remain the same (because the plane flies against the air) but it will look quite slow on the ground. also, there's a bit of an optical illusion involved, especially if you're watching it from a car travelling in the same direction as the plane.

A. What does it take to be a good commercial pilot? - The best pilots I've flow with have a level head, modest egos, a willingness to learn and a general thirst for knowledge. Is it true that the military is the best way to go for the job? - I have no military experience personally. The only input I have on this matter is by judging the military pilots with whom I have flown. To make a long story short, no. I don't feel that military is the best way to go. It's certainly not a bad way to go, but don't feel like that's how you have to go in order to work as a commercial pilot. What is the lifestyle like, are you always away from home? - I am away from home an average of 2 to 3 nights a week. This is somewhat typical, at least at my stage… [cont.]

What type of batteries do commercial jet aircraft use in the electrical system?
Q. I am researching how commercial airplanes use power. Specifically, are the batteries on a commercial jet, for example an MD-88 or Boeing 737, your standard lead acid, or do they use lithium ion/polymer based? GREATLY appreciate a direction that I can research more. Thank you very much!

A. Get ready for more information than you thought you would get... Boeing 767 aircraft (at least the one I'm working on this week) use a Nickel Cadmium battery (Ref AIPC 24-31-01-02 Item 35). Boeing part number S282T002-1 (ELDEC part number BA06 or SAFT part number 4579). This battery is 28VDC. There are actually two batteries installed, one is for the aircraft power system, the other for APU starting. Not going to look up that reference. They are both the same part number and are interchangeable. (And weighs 96 pounds - no fun installing in the APU battery location behind the P49 panel) The main battery for an MD-88 is actually two batteries. Instead of having one heavy 28VDC battery, it has two 14VDC batteries in series. Voltage… [cont.]

What is the difference between Commercial Vehicle Insurance and Private Insurance?
Q. What is the difference between the two when it comes to hitting someone's car and totalling it? A. Whether a PAP (personal auto) or BAP (commercial auto), the same rules & laws applies when resolving auto claims. The only difference is the amount of liability carried by each...BAP's are generally much higher than PAP. So to answer your question, NO a commercial carrier will not "replace" your totaled out vehicle. Both carriers have a duty to settle claims fairly & do their best to keep their insured out of court. As for the settlement of a total loss...the law states if it's cheaper to total the car than repair it because the repairs exceed the value of the car, then the car must be totaled. Financially it doesn't make sense, whether it's your neighbor paying or some company with deeper pockets than your neighbor. You do have the… [cont.]

A. I ama former chef and worked for a free lance cater once, and she used to use church halls, service clubs and schools kitchens, alot depends on the operation and some restaurant will let you do it late at night after the service is done or early in the morning, for bread, you might look to a late night or early morning opportunity. Call around to the places I mentioned, as for cost, they will likely charge by the hour and you will have to have a vendors permit to sell retail products, for them to be able to let you use there facilities.

Why does commercial mayo last so much longer?
Q. I have been making home made mayo. It is cheaper and I can control the ingrediants/flavor more. (Both good things.) So far so good. BUT I have noticed it has a very short shelf life compared to the commercial kind. We are talking 1 week for home made compared to months for the commercial kind. How come? The commercial ones I buy do not show perservatives on the label? Isn't the lemon juice and/or viengar enough to act as a preservative? What is going on here?

What is the dog commercial with the Keeshond?
Q. I recently saw a commercial that I really want to see again. There's an adorable Keeshond puppy and other dogs... I remember the Keeshond was incredibly fluffy and it was hopping around. I can't remember the dog food brand it was endorsing, but I know they have a series of commercials that are always simple with white backgrounds and just a couple of dogs. I think they might have once had a dog, just eating out of a dog bowl. Their commercials kind of remind me of Telus commercials.
