Can connecting another computer to my network influence the connections of the other computers?
Q. I had two computers both connected to a wireless router. Yesterday I connected a third computer to the network and, although the connection goes through for this new computer, one of the original computers now says "Limited or no connectivity" and cannot connect to the Internet. Is it possible that the new computer is using up too much bandwidth and is therefore preventing the other computer from accessing the Internet?

A. hi, First of all let me tell you one thing that before microsoft there was very little scope for personal computers and softwares related to those computers. Still there were some softwares and software building programming languages. FORTRAN or formula translation, the first high level programming language, was invented by John Backus for IBM, in 1954, and released commercially, in 1957. It is still used today for programming scientific and mathematical applications. Fortran began as a digital code interpreter for the IBM 701 and was originally named Speedcoding. John Backus wanted a programming language closer to human language, which is the definition of a high level language. At that time the softwares available were Aldus Pagemaker,… [cont.]

Q. I have a printer hooked up to the computer in my room. My daughter has a computer in her room and no printer. How can she do her homework on her computer, but have it print out on the printer in my room? Do I need the internet on one computer or both? Maybe not at all?

A. You need to network your PC with hers using an ethernet cable(LAN). Router is optional as it's primarily used for the internet. So, if you are both setup with the internet thru a router or if your just connected together with a LAN cable, then jsut create a network for printer sharing using the Network Setup Wizard in "Network Connections" in start menu or desktop

A. Fraid not.. Deskside support is slowly being phased out (where the repair tech comes to your desk). PCs have gotten so "cheap" that it's less expensive for a company to have a few spares on hand, swap out the hard drive and poof! the user is back in business. Of course my perspective is corporate customers, I dont know what small businesses do. The real opportunity is setting up wireless networks, installing anti-virus and anti-spamware software, developing secure VPNs for mobile employees, and integrating handheld devices (Blackberry and Windows Mobile phones) into the company. The tech repair guys (unless you want to strike out on your own and target home and small business users) are low paid employees due to the commoditization of… [cont.]

A. Set your iPod to manually manage music; But the good way is to transfer all existing songs/videos from your iPod back to your new computer and iTunes. Simply use this handy transfer program called Tansee iPod Transfer Many of my friends are using it for its easy and safe transfer. With just a few simple clicks, it will help you copy all videos/songs from iPod back to your selected folder on your new computer, and then you can easily add those files back to iTunes. More importantly, this won't overwrite any original files on your iPod. And all song titles are preserved. In this case, all songs/videos (both new and old) are on your iTunes library that you can syn with whenever you wish to without deleting any files. It even has step-by [cont.]

A. You have a few options: 1) Block certain websites like file-sharing, adult content, weapons, etc. using this free service from Basically you create a free account and select the types of websites to block, it also keeps a log of the sites visited. You make one quick adjustment with your wireless router or on your teenagers computer. You basically change the IP address for the DNS on either. OpenDNS will give you an IP address to plug in and tells you how to perform this. 2) You could install computer management software that allows an individual to monitor other computers on the network through watching other users. This is used a lot in education through programs like insight, synchroneyes, schoolvue, etc. There is a free one called… [cont.]

A. Well, There has to be an admin account on the system unless it was deleted if that is the case then there is not much you can do aside from reinstalling OS. Or you can take to a professional who should have software to get in and reset. I do have this software but I won't share it here.. do to hackers and such.. but you can try to log on as User: admin or administrator and no password and see if it works as these are common default users. All games use directx 8.0 or above, so be sure you have downloaded that before visiting.. It is called www.yoyogames.com. The download button is down the bottom of the screen next to the comments, but there is also a plugin that lets you play the game straight off the website. I have an account there called cman, if you go there check out my games like imelda marcos cleans her shoe cupboard. It has a rating system so you always know what you are going to get there (quality wise). Some are loads of fun, check out the hanrahan game. It WOULD be easier to say, though,… [cont.]

Should I major in computer engineering if the program is not accredited? How important is accreditation?
Q. The university that I currently attend offers Electrical and Computer Engineering and the programs are very similar except for a few different courses. I am in my sophomore year and I changed my major from computer science to EE. I was thinking I would Major in EE and minor in CS, but my advisor feels I should just major in Comp Engineering since I already have a little knowledge. However, the CE program is relatively new so it's not accredited as of yet. I really changed my major because I didn't want to limit myself to computers. But my advisor says the same jobs an EE can get a CE can get. How true is this? And what should I do major in Electrical Eng and Minor in Computer Science or should I just major in Comp. Eng.
Asked by BIgVince - Tue Apr 17 17:59:13 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you want to go to some really high rated grad school it is important. As long as your school has ABET accredited engineering programs, the individual department accreditation is not that important. The most important thing is passing the PE when your done. But major in EE because its in demand. With EE you can still be a computer engineer anyway.

Some form of programing in machine level/binary level languages, hardware design, networking, etc.. In a nut shell, IS == information storage and retreival methodologies and design. CT == Hardware design aspect and physical computer. At least this is what I fond during my studies and working as a tutor at Uni.. Hopes this helps :)

A. BS in Computer Science is more computer intensive than BS in CIS. CIS is more business oriented. I don't know about the program in the school which you are attending or you plan to attend; but in the school that I went to, CIS students didn't need to take much programming classes nor did they have to take any computer hardware classes. While the Comp. Sci. students, which I was one of them, had to take many programming classes and a computer hardware class.
