What is the purpose of the Number Lock button on computer keyboards?
Q. What is the purpose of the Number Lock button on computer keyboards? Besides of course to annoy you when it accidentally gets pushed and you think you are typing all these numbers and then you look up at the screen and nothing has actually happened. Is there an actual practical purpose or no?

Why are the keypads on keyboards and telephones different?
Q. Numeric keypads on keyboards go bottom left to top right, whereas telephone keypads go top left to bottom right. Wouldnt it make sense to make the numbers go in the same order?
Asked by Chris Stetson - Thu Feb 8 03:52:15 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. why does it matter, do you get confused?? but to be honest, the only reason i would suggest, is that your hands are in a different position when your typing, than when your entering numbers in your phone whilst holding it, so it could be an ergonomic reason.

Why is the ELectrig BASS GUITAR STill used when keyboards can imitate the sound almost to perfection?
Q. Plus keyboards now have pitchwheels and mod wheels so they can imitate the sliding of the finger on the fret etc. And also , BASS is not like acoustic guitar where one of the beautiful things about the guitar is you hear the WEEP sound when the fingers slide to create new chords or slide a finger to a note...IN BAS you don't really need that. So why not just use Keyboards for BASS sound?
Asked by Susano V - Sun May 16 14:15:40 2010 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Apparently you haven't heard any good bass players who put emotion into their playing. And no, they do not sound exactly alike. Any musician can instantly tell when a synth or keyboard is being used.

Is it possible in Windows to have two separate keyboards with different inputs?
Q. I am trying to use two keyboards on my computer, one regular one and a separate, modified one for gaming. However, while playing games I want (for example) the A key on the game keyboard to have a different function then the A key on the typing keyboard. Is this possible? Can I make Windows recognize the gaming keyboard as something other then a keyboard? Thanks ahead of time!
Asked by James K - Thu Aug 27 15:18:41 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. not really since it will both keyboards as one. its faster to just remap the game and configure it so you have it set to what you want for your gaming keyboard.

Do synthesizer keyboards primarily play basic piano sounds and you can alter the sounds from there?
Q. Do synthesizer keyboards primarily play basic piano sounds and you can alter the sounds from there? I hope this doesn't sound like a stupid question, but I really want a synthesizer, but am kind of confused about it all. Also, if you buy a synthesizer keyboard instead of a piano keyboard, does it not sound as nice? (Since piano keyboards are made for piano sounds). I was looking to buy a Yamaha synth.
Asked by Lucy - Thu Apr 15 13:40:32 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Simple answer is no, synthesizers are designed to create unusual original electronic sounds first implemented by the Moog synth ( invented by Robert Moog ) in 1965 whereas a standard electronic keyboard is designed to recreate more natural sounding instruments like piano, brass, organ. You need to ask yourself what kind of music do you want to play, then check out the sounds of some popular synths like the moog, korg,Yamaha and Roland synths on Youtube. If you can get to a local music store go and test some out before parting with your cash. For some more ideas on synths and keyboards check out

A. Hi. Most PCs with two keyboards recognize each as one. The two keyboards act as one in other words. The system would get messed up if each did a separate task.

Why do British keyboards have the Dollar on them opposed to the Euro?
Q. With the Euro been a much more influential currency in the UK surely a Euro sign would be more beneficial on our keyboards than the Dollar sign. Could just be my laptop keyboard but yeah...

A. The reson for this is that the US Dollar is considered to be a global currency used in international trade as the US have the largest economy, therefore more people would use it as apposed to the Euro

Q. Would you rather have a cell phone with a full keyboard or one with just the standard one? I love my phone, it rocks, and it has a regular keyboard. I like it better than full keyboards, but I don't really know why.. What about you? Which do you prefer to type with?

Can i use two monitors and two keyboards off of one pc?
Q. I want to know if it is possible to run two monitors and two keyboards off of one pc and if so how would I go about setting this up? They probably wouldn't have to be more than about ten feet apart. Any help is appreciated.
Asked by bizeb - Wed Oct 29 17:53:17 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. two monitors is easy - you can use video card with dual monitor support, or use mutliple video cards. You then right click on your desktop of the working monitor, go to settings and select to extend you windows desktop. Fairly simple form there. You can also use multiple keyboards...multiple USB keyboards are the easiest. As you connect them, Windows will install the needed drivers. I've done both of these (in fact, using multiple monitors at the moment)

What music are midi keyboards used to make?
Q. What music are midi keyboards used to make? Is it all for high beat tech-no music. Or can you make slow songs or like pop music with it? And can you change the way it sounds on garage band? Like make it sound like a guitar playing wen your playing the keyboard. Please Answer. I don't know if i should get one. Thank You

A. Most popular recorded music is written and performed using MIDI-equipped electronic keyboards (aka "synthesizers"). Even film and TV scores are usually created on MIDI instruments, and with advances in digital sampling and synthesis technologies making digital instruments sound ever more realistic, the orchestra playing behind that big-screen block buster is more likely to be the product of a few MIDI devices than dozens of acoustic instruments.

The color is, gonna be honest, absolutely hideous, and it'd be so much better if they could make a more appealing cover. Not to mention a lighter weight one if they could. The keyboard is almost as heavy as the phone itself. Thanks so much, u completely helped me with deciding if I want the versa or not.
