How do i get a memory card to work in my printer?
Q. I have a hp psc 1350 printer. I need to load a memory card from my friends camera onto the computer and i do not have the cord. When i put the memory card into the printer it reads error. It does this with one of my memory cards too, but with another one it works. My friends card says Toshiba SD memory card and it is 256 MB. Is there a way i can get it to work, and somehow get the pictures on the computer?

A. You could buy a memory card reader, which would read any mermory card. However, it sounds like this memory card could be corrupted if your printer reads other SD's.

What causes an XD memory card to become corrupted?
Q. I recently lost a great amount of data from my XD memory card upon using it with a recently purchased 23-in-1 card reader. The device uploaded only 5 of my 100+ photos, the others were nowhere to be found, not even on the camera's available memory. Now, the camera will not even recognize the card. I've been informed that the card is probably corrupted. What could have done this? What would cause a memory card to become corrupted, just out of curiosity? Thanks.

A. Here is the link to all the possible ways you can corrupt your memory cards. The most common way is this: Continually shooting and deleting, shooting and deleting images when the card becomes full. ALWAYS format the card before use and again after you have safely copied all the images to the computer. When formatting the card, use the format feature in the menu of the camera ... NOT the computer. If for some reason all the images that you think are on your card were not copied to your computer, you will want to buy an image recovery program from Lexar or San Disk before you format the xD card. In the mean time, buy a second card. Right now 8 GB SDHC cards are $14, so my guess is a 2 GB xD card will be affordable.

What does memory card error on a digital camera mean?
Q. Ive tried formating the card but it wont let me. I dont know anything about buying a new memory card if thats what is needed.

A. Take your old card with you. You will find that SD and CF cards provide the most memory per $ (1GB cards are typically under $12 each) xD cards are the next least expensive, around $20 for a 1GB (this past weekend) and 1GB Memory Sticks about $25 each.

How do I insert my sandisk memory card into the motorola droid?

A. The Motorola Droid comes with a 16GB SD chip. If you want to place another chip in there, you have to remove the chip that comes with the phone.

What memory card and rechargable batteries should I buy for my new digital camera?
Q. I have a Kodak EasyShare C533. I want a memory card that can store up to 60 regular quality pictures and I also want to buy rechargable batteries, because my camera eats the regular ones like crazy! Thanks..

A. NiMH batteries are recommended by Kodak. Get the ones with the highest mAh rating (2300 or better). Buy a four pack with charger and keep a spare set charged all the time. That should get you back to shooting without running through those AA s like a Wild-woman Memory wise, get the largest capacity SD/MMC card you can afford. Use the internal memory only as a reserve and get a card reader so you can download your images to your computer without using up the power in your camera.

How does a memory card reader work for a camera?
Q. I need to get a new memory card reader since the one built in to my PC broke. Do they just plug into the computer with a USB and you put the card in the reader? I assume you have to install the software as well. Are my assumptions correct? Anything else?

A. You can buy ones that plug into your usb, these are the easiest to use. Some dont require software as windows xp and vista have a lot of drivers built into the operating system. For best prices go to Newegg.com or Meritline.com. Meritline has free shipping on a lot of its items.

How to get programs from memory card onto my windows mobile phone again?
Q. I had to do a hard reset on my windows mobile 6.1 phone. I took out my memory card before, and put it in after. How can I retrieve my programs from my memory card and use them on my phone afterwards?

A. You will only be able to recover programs on your memory card if you kept the installer package on the card itself. For the Windows Mobile platform, most installer packages are labelled as '.cab" files. Go to Start-->Programs-->File Explorer and navigate to "Storage Card". From there, find your .cab installer files and run them. They should install the application back to the device.

A. Secure Digital (SD) is a non-volatile memory card format developed by Matsushita, SanDisk, and Toshiba for use in portable devices. Today it is widely used in digital cameras, handheld computers, PDAs, mobile phones, GPS receivers, and video game consoles. Standard SD card capacities range from 8 MB to 4 GB and for high capacity SDHC cards 4 GB to 32 GB as of 2008. SDHC cards are designed for use in SDHC-enabled devices and are not backwards compatible with standard SD legacy devices. ... The format has proven to be very popular. However, a change in the format, while allowing capacities greater than 4 GB (SDHC), has created compatibility issues with older devices which cannot read the new format. Since SDHC format cards have the same… [cont.]

Can you take a memory card from a digital video camera to a store to get the videos on a DVD?

A. yes, but that would actually be a waste of your time if you have a computer with a DVD burner, which you probably do if it is fairly new. there are tons of programs to do this, as some people have already said. this way you don't waste gas money and time going to wal-mart, or wherever it is you want to go, and you don't have to pay them. all you need is a DVD-R. you can even do it with burnable CDs, but they only play in some DVD players, and a DVD can hold over 5X more. you should also consider burning your pictures to a CD from your home computer, much the same way as a DVD. many companies sell or give away programs online that can be just as easy as going to wal-mart. basically you need a few things, which you may already have: 1.… [cont.]

How can I recover images from my formatted memory card?
Q. This sucks. I accidently formatted my SD memory card which contains about 90 images of my backpacking trip in Europe. I am currently in the middle of the vacation and am wondering if I can take more pictures with that memory card. Should I buy a new memory card and use data recovery software for my old one? I don t want to take a chance and lose those precious images forever. Please offer your suggestions! Thanks!

A. If you're still on the road, I think your idea is a good one. Get a new card and deal with the old one later. Don't take any more pictures with it!

A. You can store pretty much anything on pretty much any flash media (memory card/stick) format. You just need a card reader. I wouldn't suggest installing programs onto a flash memory card, as they have a limited number of read/write cycles, so constantly accessing data from them might lower the life of the card, but if you want to store documents, movies, music, ebooks, or anything else you want a backup of, it can surely be done with the appropriate card and USB reader.

On vacation, put my memory card into a different camera and it says there are no photos?
Q. I have a Canon Digital Rebel Xsi and had a memory card packed with photos in it. The camera's battery ran out and I forgot to put the charger, so I put my card in my dad's Nikon D40x and it says there are no photos on the card?! I'm on an old computer with no memory card slot so I can't check on there. Any idea what happened? Is it because the camera doesn't recognize pics from another camera, or are the photos gone? Can they be recovered?
Asked by heavenlyapprentice - Fri Jan 2 17:16:42 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. That is right. Don't worry, the photos are still there, but you cannot expect different cameras to "see" image files shot with another camera model, especially a different brand. For under $10 you can buy a USB 2.0 card reader and copy your images to any computer you like. You will notice that the image files your camera produces are called IMG_1234 and your dad's are called DSC_1234 While they are both JPEG files, the different naming conventions preclude your dad's camera from seeing them

Is it possible to recovery files from an SD memory card that was previously inserted into a computer?
Q. A few days ago, I was viewing some photos on my computer from my SD memory card which was inserted into the SD memory card slot in my computer. I seem to have lost the memory card now, and I was wondering if there is a sort of temporary file storage on my computer for previously viewed files on removable drives (in this case, my SD memory card, also called Drive F: on my computer). Thanks so much for any help! The photos were extremely important to me.

A. Open camera on your phone. Open options-->image and video storage. Select Memory card. Do the same for video also. This may depend upon mobile model. By this, images and videos captured will be automatically stored in memory card. Also capturing capacity will also increase. For more info, see your phone booklet.

A. It depends. If you get a new animal crossing game, a 59 block card comes with it, because the game takes up 59 blocks. If you get an old one, go with a 251 block, and you'll have room for zelda and much more.

What memory card should I get for my digital camera?
Q. Is a 1G good enough? 2G? 4G? We usually delete all of the pics on our camera after we download them to our computer. At any given time we might have about 150 pictures on the camera. We also want to be able to take videos with the camera--maybe 15 minutes total. (like I said, we generally download the pics & videos to our computer frequently and then delete them from the camera) I have a Kodak EasyShare V1253. It is12 megapixels if that makes any difference as to what size the memory card should be. Thanks!
