Can i replace a xbox 360 Philips DVD drive with a Hitachi or Samsung drive?
Q. Hi, I have a xbox 360 with a Philips DVD drive, I was wondering if i can replace it with a Hitachi or Samsung drive? And if i can how easy is it?

A. I'm trying to fix my philips drive now. Its not going so well. If you started off with a hitachi or a samsung you can just replace the internal chip from your current drive with the one in the new drive so your xbox will recognize it. you either need to buy a new philips drive and desolder your current chip and solder it in to the new drive (not fun). other wise youll have to flash the new drive which i have yet to find a good guide to do so. good luck

A. I would definitely go with the trade for the LG. LG is one of leaders in electronics and their products last forever. I own an LG home theater system and its just amazing. This is the one I own. It's just amazing. I also have an LG Upconvert 1080p Blu-Ray player and its fantastic. I'll be getting an LG HDTV soon to complete my set.

Where can I get free Philips DVD 8631 drivers to download?
Q. I have a Dell 8400 that went belly-up and had to re-install all of Dell's apps and drivers but there weren't any list for the Philips and is still giving problem. I replaced the Power Supply to keep it from spontaneously shutoff. Registry repair rendered about 3 weeks of operation. Now re-intalled and occasional memory problem while using the DVD drive.
Asked by Yardie - Tue Jun 27 17:58:11 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Windows XP should automatically install the standard IDE drivers, you should not need anything else. If you are having memory problems, open up your device manager and remove the DVD player. Restart the computer and have it find the device again.

A. You would think that Philips would have informed you of that in the operation manual for the unit. Ya know they do have a website to view these manuals? Google Philips 619at users manual and look for Philips support.

Why is my Philips DVD player playing my DVD in black and white?
Q. I have just burned a DVD on my laptop and played it to check it had worked. It played on my laptop, and everything was fine but when I put it into my DVD player, it would only play in black and white. I think it's the DVD player that is the problem - does anyone know how I can adjust the settings to change it back to colour? Cheers.
Asked by edajade - Sat Sep 5 16:47:14 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Put an Old DVD on the DVD player - If it works OK, then it is a disc problem. If not, check the cable son your DVD player. Most likely your burnt it in PAL and your DVD player is NTSC only- or something similar.

I have a Philips DVD Player that doesn't play mpeg4 avi or DivX files, is there any hardware addition solutio?
Q. Is there any hardware (a chip or something) available that can be installed in the DVD player so that it can play all mpeg4 and DivX files?

A. i seriously doubt it. but your dvd player should be able to play divx files in addition to the standard .vob files. best to download a software that convert your mpeg4 etc files to .vob on your pc and then play it on dvd player

Hooking Philips DVD player (progressive scan, if it matters) to Apex TV. What the heck am I missing?
Q. So I've got the little red-white-yellow cords that have to go from one to the other, and I think I've tried every freaking combination, seeing that there's only one possible place they can go on the DVD player, but 3 spots for each on the back of the TV. Am I just having a stupid day? Thanks all.
Asked by herfinator - Fri May 15 18:13:43 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Yellow = composite video red/white : stereo audio With these cables you can't take advantage of the progressive out of your player. You should be using component cable (Red/Green/Blue) for video + red/white for audio. The TV may have multiple input ports. Just select one of them. You select the correct one to view via the remote.

How can I retune a Philips dvd recorder?
Q. After the swtchover in Cumbria I have had problems retuning my phillips dvd recorder - there are no channels found when I try and retune. Help - please!!
Asked by Victoria - Tue Jul 28 13:31:20 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Which model do you have ? does it have a Freeview/DVB digital tuner ? or only the old Analogue Ch 1 - 5 ? if it has only analogue channels, then it needs an external Freeview box and you set the channels manually before recording. The internal analoge tuner is now of little use. And if you can find no channels, it does sound like you only have an analogue tuner.

How do i get my Universal remote to work for my philips DVD-recorder?
Q. I tried all the codes in the booklet and none of them work. I was able to get the remote to work for my TV and Cable box but i need it to work for my DVDR3350H? Please let me know if anyone has any sugestions.

A. Universal remotes are sometimes really tricky. If you have lost your original I know of a website that sells alot of replacement remotes and may can help you ... www.vancebaldwin.com ... they sell replacement remotes and I'm sure if you want a universal that will work everything (ie.. tv...stereo...dvd) they can have someone tell you the best to get. They also have an 800 number so you can talk to someone directly.

I purchased a 2nd hand philips dvd surround sound. DVD is in black and white. Any idea how to fix this?
Q. Thank you. I will try and figure out if this is set in the wrong mode. I purchased this from someone who had been using it from my neck of the woods. I am not using component video. My TV does not have component. I disconnected SVIDEO and plugged in yellow. I thought svideo was supposed to take the place of yellow connection. Am I not remembering something? Thank you all for your help.

Q. I burn a data DVD of 5 movies in nero express. Can I watch the movies in normal home dvd player? I can watch data photo cd/dvd there. plz suggest?
Asked by priya - Fri Sep 4 07:23:39 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. no, i think standard video DVD is better than data DVD, If you want to burn movies onto DVD, then play it on any DVD player, you should use the right software to create standard video DVD from your videos, there is an easy way, you can try RZ DVD Creator, it can create standard video DVD from any videos, it can burn mulit videos to one disc, it can auto fit the size, it can directly convert and burn any videos to DVD(DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-DL, DVD+DL, CD-R, CD-RW, etc), such as avi to DVD, etc. Work well on my computer, easy to use, following is a step by step guide about Video DVD Creator: Hope it can help you.
