Q. I have been using this remote on my old tv for about 2 years now with basic cable. My friend got a new tv and gave me his old one because it is bigger than mine. I lost the manual to the remote that has all of the codes in it, so I looked online for the codes. I found many codes, but none of them worked. Then, I found on another website that you can hold down the code search button, then hit the tv button, then press the channel up button until the channel finally changes, even though it takes a couple minutes, and then you should be able to use the remote completely. Well, the channel changed, but after that I couldn't get the remote to do anything else. Can you please help me?

Next put that model number into Google search (i.e. PM725 or Phillips Magnavox PM725). Chances are your instruction manual will pop up (probably in pdf format). A. I read the instructions for it and they are the same as you have. You can always buy another remote. They are cheap and will have an instruction manual. Be sure it is a remote that has a setting for dvd. not all of them do.

tv wont respond to universal remote?
Q. my tv, Philips 19PR09C101, wont respond to any of the universal remote I use. Ive used the Comcast universal remote and Philips Magnavox PM435S.
