I'm trying to program my Philips Magnavox Universal remote to a tv my friend gave me. Can you help?
Q. I have been using this remote on my old tv for about 2 years now with basic cable. My friend got a new tv and gave me his old one because it is bigger than mine. I lost the manual to the remote that has all of the codes in it, so I looked online for the codes. I found many codes, but none of them worked. Then, I found on another website that you can hold down the code search button, then hit the tv button, then press the channel up button until the channel finally changes, even though it takes a couple minutes, and then you should be able to use the remote completely. Well, the channel changed, but after that I couldn't get the remote to do anything else. Can you please help me?

A. This should be fairly straight forward and easy. (cross your fingers) Look at your remote control and find the model number. Next put that model number into Google search (i.e. PM725 or Phillips Magnavox PM725). Chances are your instruction manual will pop up (probably in pdf format). If you can't find the model number I would go to a website like try the code numbers listed for your television. If that fails you should first contact Phillips Magnavox for help - I would do it online at , giving them all of the information you think might be relative. Last, you should contact the manufacturer of the television for help. If they have an 800 number I would call. If not use email and give them the information you think they will… [cont.]

How do I program the channel memory on my TV by using a universal remote since I do not have the TVs original?
Q. I do not have the TV's original remote. The TV is a Philips and the universal is also a Philips/Magnavox

A. Now days for some models you must have the original remote, mainly because universals just won't cover the features that you want to use. If the set is not too old contact the Phillips Co. They should have a 1- 800 number that you can call. You can then order a new one. Short of this you would need to get remote call All-In-One. It has a lot of sub menus. Good Luck

I just purchased a Universal Television remote control by Philips. Can it work with a Sony Trinitron TV? How?
Q. I am unsure if the remote that I purchased can be programmed for the type of television that I own. I read the instructions that came along with the remote control, but I could not seem to get the television to do anything at all. Is the problem that the remote is not compatible with the type of television set that I own or could it be something else that I am doing or have not done yet? I own a Sony Trinitron television. I just purchased a Philips DVD remote control that claims that it can operate the television and cable as well. If I wanted to change the channel for the cable programming what setting would I use(TV, cable, VCR)? I also noticed in the instruction manual that different cable systems each have a unique number that… [cont.]

help with my philips CL032 universal remote? begging here!?
Q. I believe I own a Philips Magnavox CL032 universal remote, (at least I know it's CL032 and a universal Philips, anyway) but I can't seem to make it work. I bought a DVD player from an old consignment shop and they had a packaged remote included, but without a manuel. All they included was a sheet that said: universal remote-goes with Disney DVD player (the one I bought) code=0246. I've gone on tons of websites and they all give these instructions:manually turn on device to be controlled (tv, dvd, etc) 1. Press and Hold code search until the red led stays lit. Release code search button. 2. Press unit you wish to program (vcr/dvd, tv, sat/ cab) LED will remain lit. 3. Press channel up/ down one at a time (up to 300 times), until the device… [cont.]

A. I read the instructions for it and they are the same as you have. You can always buy another remote. They are cheap and will have an instruction manual. Be sure it is a remote that has a setting for dvd. not all of them do.
