RCA TV, the menu starts up at ON switch. How can I get its Menu to stop at start up?
Q. I bought a Universal Control Box (to change channels and adjust volume), it has no effect on the RCA TV's menu. To TV Tech, I like your answer and I will try it. This is the second Television that we have experienced it with. Thanks for answering. I would reply directly, but Yahoo does not give me that opportunity!

A. Wow...three trolls and one real guy. Getting kinda crowded here yahoo. Anyways, your problem is most likely caused by a stuck Menu button on your TV set. You have to unstick it. Now, if it's actually sticking, you can turn off the TV , unplug it, and take a bottle of isopropyl alcohol (70% or higher) and a toothbrush and scrub all the switches. That should remove any sticky substances between the buttons and the switches. Work the switches during cleaning so the alcoho-water blend can do it's magic. Wait 30 minutes before plugging it back in.

How do you fix lines on a RCA tv?
Q. I have an old RCA tv, from around the 80s. the tv worked perfectly for years but All of a sudden i have these diagonal lines that popped up on the tv and the sharpness is reduced. Also most of the control knobs on the back are broken off. So can i repair this myself, should I take it to a shop, or will it be too expensive, and should i just buy a new tv?
Asked by Queban H - Tue Nov 25 13:29:23 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Why spend money on an old TV, when it can go towards a new one. No guarantee that the old TV will last much longer. Do yourself a favor and get yourself a new one for the holidays.

How do I fix my Rca Tv?
Q. Hello, I have an Rca Tv and some of the channels come in and some do not. Any help would be greatful.
Asked by sylvia E - Thu Mar 29 11:14:39 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It all depends on how old it is . it it electronic tuning or the old rotary style . if its a rotary it probably needs cleaning which means taking it a part and spraying the tuner .. a job not recommended for a do it yourself..That TV can kill you if you touch the wrong thing . it may store a charge for years so don't attempt it .. that's about 25,000 volts .. you'd be playing with . Now if its electronic i would think that somehow you have messed up the settings go to your menu and check to see if its set for air or cable or you could have some channels deleted most TVs have an auto scan feature that will automatically tune in on all channels it receives .. get out your users manual if you have one and read it .. if you don't have one… [cont.]

Do I need a Coaxle to RCA adapter for my TV if the coaxle input on the back is broken?
Q. Was cleaning, TV fell on floor, ripped out the back connection for cable TV. RCA inputs still work fine on the TV, is there any adapter made from cable to RCA? Or do I need to just have the cable input fixed? I know that will probably be costly.
Asked by Matt Dibble - Tue Mar 25 15:41:59 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There is no adapter. You need some kind of tuner. If all you need is analog TV, use a VCR as a tuner.

how to i hook up a RCA tv to my stereo?
Q. I have an older model rca tv about 5 yrs old. My stereo has a mini aux plug and i bought the connect with the mini plug on one end and the L R audio on the other. I plugged it in and it does not work!!! I read the manual and i can't find how to do it. the model of the the tv is F25442 and my stereo is a jvc MX-KC48 compact stereo unit. I tried the same thing with my dvd player to stereo and it works perfectly so it's not the cable...
Asked by danie7 - Sat Jun 9 20:11:40 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If I undersantd your question correctly, you are trying to run the red/white RCA connectors from your tv to your stere 1/8" jack. The LR audio on your tv are most likely inputs, not outputs. That means it receives sound from devices like a vcr, it does not emit sound out to devices such as a receiver. Most standard TV's (especially older) do not have audio outputs (unless they were the big consoles). If it is an output, it will say so. If it has no markings, it is most likely an input.

How do I have "surround" sound with new RCA TruFlat tv and existing stereo?
Q. I was just given an RCA TruFlat tv (built in vcr and dvd) as a gift. My (very) old tv, older stereo and vcr were all hooked up together and I could have "surround" sound thru the stereo and it worked pretty well. I want to do the same thing with the new tv without buying a whole expensive system. The tv instructions say it won't work with something that has built in DTS. I'm assuming that's my stereo. (I don't have cable or satellite) What are my options? Can I buy an inexpensive av amplifier (?) and just hook the tv and stereo to that? Good answer Jefferson! But I guess I negelected to mention that I tried that and it didn't work. What did I do wrong then?
Asked by dlm3300 - Sun Dec 24 10:43:44 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Uh, huh. Well, here's the thing. You have a "stereo" which means "stereo" not "surround". You will then be limited to hooking up the red and white RCA outs of the TV, VCR, DVD, whatever, and into the amplifier and playing back through the speakers. DTS is an encoding yes, but it will not interfere with the analog playback of the TV, or the playback through the stereo. Solution. Dude, step up. Put the "stereo" in the garage, get an inexpensive true surround system, even the theater in a box is fine for your application, and be done with it. The 70's are over my friend.

I need repair parts for my old RCA TV Model G26231TN where can i order these from?
Q. The picture is really distorted -wavy lines and such and any words on the screen are impossible to read. Great TV had since late 80's and never any repairs needed.
Asked by B C - Sat Sep 22 17:42:45 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If it's the chassis I'm thinking of! Those old RCA's usually needed the focus setup ( which is not a hard job to do & also the sharpness control sticking out the back of the chassis also used to have a dirty control.

Will a Wii work on an RCA analog tv bought in 2007?
Q. My parents bought an RCA analog tv back in 2007 and I was wondering if the Wii could work with that? Or do the Wii's just work with digital TV's. It would bummer if thats the case. Does anyone know for sure?

A. As long as your TV has the yellow, red, and white plugs, then the Wii will work on it. I'd be shocked if the Wii didn't work on a TV that was made in 2007.

How can I fix my RCA projection TV?
Q. I have a RCA R52WH74 Projection HDTV. Today I was watching TV and all of a sudden it starting showing the three HD colors. Everything was showing up in red, blue and green. The top and bottom of the picture are also curved inward. It is the same on every input. What can i do?
Asked by Vash - Sun Jun 28 19:00:24 2009 - - 2 Answers - 1 Comments

A. When the three colors are not aligned, the TV is said to be out of convergence. While there are user controls on the TV to adjust convergence, it sounds to me like you have a hardware problem which won't be solved so easily. Definitely try the convergence operation in the TV's menus just in case you get lucky; you have nothing to lose by trying. But failing that, you have a repair job on your hands. RPTVs have a set of integrated circuits called Convergence ICs and associated circuitry. Something on your convergence board has blown and needs replacing. It might be a chip or some other component on the board. It's a job for a professional to troubleshoot the board and determine what's blown.

A. I have some 4 & 3 digit codes to program into that RCA remote you are looking to buy. These are codes for RCA TVs : 0047, 1447, 0018, 0019, 0090, 0135, 0679, 0747, 1047, 1147, 1247, 1347, 1547. Three digit ones : 000, 006, 011, 019, 027, 034, 038, 044, 046, 088. I hope one of those will make that remote run your TV. Good Luck.

A. did you make sure that you plugged it into the same input as the video input? did you make sure nothing to muted or the volume isn't just down on the laptop?..either that. or maybe the audio levels from the laptop aren't strong enough to be played through tv speakers without an amp.

A. Sounds like your tuner quit on you. You'll need a new one. Unless of course your TV set is DEAD...then that's a whole different problem. Most likely the SSB board will fix either problem.
