Samsung LCD HDTV Power light indicator blinks for about 5mins before the tv comes on. any know what can i do?
Q. When I turn on my Samsung 40" 530 LCD HDTV. It doesn't come on like it used to. It would usually come on in about a few seconds, but now the Red power light indicator blinks on and off for about 5min, before the tv actually comes on. Can anyone help? My tv is no longer under warranty so that pretty much throws that out the window. Is there anything I could probably replace? I did some research and people had some problems with their power supply and ip boards. but I'm not sure if their tv would actually turn on or thier tv just could never turn on, so I don't really know the difference in problems with thiers and mines.

A. >I did some research and people had some problems with their power supply and ip boards Most of these problems are related to capacitors going bad. Usually they slowly go bad so it's not unusual for TVs to become progressively more flaky before they stop altogether. It's likely that the problem is with the power supply, probably some electrolytic capacitors. If you are thinking of fixing the TV, I'd be hesitant to keep using it because a flaky power supply could damage something else in the TV. Having an experienced technician fix it with a new board will cost several hundred dollars. If you know someone who's handy with electronics it might just need a few dollars worth of parts or a used power supply from another TV with a busted… [cont.]

Goodman furnace -- 4 red LED blinks indicating - high open limit?
Q. We have this problem happen before when the power went out it trips the limits so it doesn't burn up the blower. The first tech that came out misdiagnosed it that time and a second tech came out to explain that the part wasn't bad that the two limit switches (one on the left side of the blower) had to be pressed to reset them. A transformer blew outside our house last night and the power was out. As you can guess i have no heat but the blower comes on, and we are to have our first snow tonight. the indicator is blinking 4 times showing the same as when the techs came out showing high open limit. I need help locating these "limit switches" that need to be reset. I can't really follow the diagram on the panel doesn't make much sense. Please!… [cont.]
Asked by Chris - Wed Nov 25 14:29:33 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Look at the wiring diagram and note the wire color. You will be able to follow the color to the limit. Usually purple. There may be several limits in the same wiring circuit so just follow. The high limit is located on the wall below the burner area if this is an up-flow. The switch itself extends through the wall. This is not a resettable switch. It will reset once cooled off, if not it is defective. Connecting the two wires together that go to it will bypass it to check the rest of the operation. Do not leave it like that. These limit switches can stick and not reset possibly due to constant overheating.

Q. It shows the red indicator light blinking so it functions, but it doesn't know that something is in front of it. The two lights do not go on, and I have two switches in the house..on, off. And there are some functions under the sensor box, but I have tried switching those to different settings.

A. Mine does the same thing, it needs new lamps. I have the halogen type lamp and am about to put incandescent lamps in it since they last longer than the high output compact halogens.

Q. I have a Sony Trinitron and it will not turn on. The red LED near the timer/stand by blinks 5 times then pauses then continues to blink another 5 times. I did some research and found this: FIVE Blinks---AKB circuit (AKB), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. Also unit be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly. The Sony tech guy could not explain this and referred us to a local techinician who won't be back in for 2 days. Can anyone explain the issue with the TV or give any suggestions? This TV is only two, maybe three years… [cont.]

A. Typically, the picture tube has gone sour on you in this situation. It happens regularly with the Sony 32", and 36" sets after 10 or so years.

Cadillac experts only!!!!!?
Q. I just brought a 98 deville. There are three buttons in the ceiling, between the two map lights. When I press them, the little red indicator light to the left blinks. The left one has 1 dot on it and the right has 3 dots. The middle does not have any dots. What the heck do these buttons operate? Also, what color of antifreeze do I use for this car?
Asked by big d - Thu Nov 20 14:45:49 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Those are probably programmable buttons for a garage door opener. As far as antifreeze, you need to find out what's in there. If it's still got Dexcool in it, you need to use that unless you're doing a complete flush. If someone has already changed it, you do not want to add Dexcool. So you have to make sure you know what's in there.

Computer turns off, but turns itsself back on?
Q. I am running Vista Home Prem, Dell Inspiron 1501 Notebook. I shut it down, and then I store it in my case. Somewhere during my trip home, the computer turns itsself on, because when I retrieve it from my case...it is warm, the red battery indicator is blinking, and it is active. When I open the Lid, it tells me Windows recovered from a shutdown. So is it just my laptop doing it, or are others doing this also? I know how to shut it down properly, before I close the Lid every indicator light is turned off, to enclude the Wifi.

A. Clean up the terminals on the battery cables. Have the battery charged and checked at your mechanics shop. Put the battery back in the car, start it up, then connect a voltage meter to the battery. It should show from 11 to 12 volts before you start it. After you start the car,the voltage meter should show almost 14volts. If it doesn't move after you started it, the alternator needs checking. With the care shut off, the voltage meter should not show any loss of voltage. If it does, you need a new battery.

A. Sounds like your alternator is only working intermittently. The most common reason for this is the brushes are going. Either replace the alternator, or take it off and get someone to replace the brushes. The water in fuel light is water in your fuel filter. You should drain the fuel filter at the bottom, and pump the primer pump until clear fuel comes out. Good luck.

Q. i was playing with my PS3 then it suddenly shut downed and the power indicator was just blinking red, so i turned off the power and check if the console was hot. it was not that hot. i read the user guide manual and it said that maybe the temp inside has risen too high. it suggested that i let it cool down before starting it again. i let it cool for 2 days but the only thing that happens is when i turn the power on it will turn green then the fan will move then it will turn yellow then the fan will stop then finally it will just blink red. will someone help me?

A. The harddrive spinning should make a decently loud and annoying noise. the harddrive will spin anytime something is read or written to it, so all the time. But if it sounds like clinking and clanking, there might be something physically damaged on your harddrive. i recommend you back up all your important stuff and replace the drive.

Q. I'm having trouble with my samsung tv. All i know is that the red and green indicator lights on the front panel blink 18 times. Then, they stop and start again. This happens 3 times. Finally, all three lights on the indicators start blinking. Any suggestions to what this means? Can someone tell me what I can do to fix this problem? Thanks for the help! No, it doesn't make any noise. Just a blank screen with the indicator lights flashing.

I almost freak out because maybe my ps3 will cause a system malfunction then i turn it off reset my ps3 it still blinks and beeps twice untill came up on idea to unplug the ps3 and plug it again now it blinks and beeps once do you think that it has something to do with hardware start up??? could this affect the system? why does it makes a wierd start up?
