Will a remote control for a TV of the same brand work on a different model?
Q. I have a rubbish little 15" Acoustic Solutions TV and I've lost the remote, if I buy a remote for a different Acoustic Solutions model, will it work? Or shall I buy a universal remote? Thanks!

How do you get remote batteries inside and make the remote work?
Q. Our theater room remote has batteries in it but the remote just stop working what can we do ?
Asked by x0monax0 - Sat Apr 4 19:01:23 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There's usually a panel on the back that either slides open or has a screw or springy tab that holds it in place. Only rarely is it necessary to pry the whole case open. If it's not obvious, find the manual for the remote or the main device the remote belongs to.

How do I set up my remote with my garage door reciever?
Q. I bought a new remote for my garage door opener. The remote has 10 switches on it. I have to match it up with the code on my receiver. I opened up my receiver and couldn't find any switches on it. I know this remote should work because my old one was the same brand and type with 10 switches. How do I set up my remote to work with my receiver? The remote i have is a multicode made by linear. The same as my old remote. The switches are not in their original positions. The model receiver I have is The Genie Company model #ACSR3G type ERY. Maybe someone could find me instructions for this receiver?

A. set them all to 0, then set your door to 0. The instructions should show you what the switches look like.

Will a remote start work on a manual shifted car?
Q. I want to get a remote start for my car that has a standard transmission. I know it works for cars with automatic shift but do they make remote starts for standard transmission.
Asked by Carl J - Thu Dec 4 19:22:53 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. yea. I just got one put on my car. I you know about how to wire that stuff, go ahead. I had the shop do it. They didn't do anything special and it cost 175 with a basic remote start. (just unlocks/locks doors and starts car. some other stuff thats no use). The only difference between my manual and my friends automatic is that when your going to get out of the car, you have to push the remotes button, take the key out, put the car in nuetral, and lock the doors. When you get out of the car with the key out, the car keeps running for a little while which means that next time you can remote start the car. If you open the doors, it won't start. Its a weird little safty mechanism. Its kind of a pain but i think its worth it.

How does the remote start work on a 2007 Ford?
Q. Bought a new Edge with Remote Start. Seems like a dumb question, but can someone tell me how the remote start works? I've searched the net and cannot find it. I also didn't receive any manuals or instructions from the dealer. Quick tip??
Asked by sassynstl - Sat Oct 20 07:48:15 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. push down on the button for more than 2 seconds and the vehicle will start. you can push on the button for the same amount of time to stop it also. make sure you enter the vehicle and turn the ignition to the on position before hitting the brakes as that is one of the things to kill the system But go back to your dealer and see if they can get you one... All I've found is the instillation manual online, but this is basically how the system operates. If you have any other questions email me

How do i use my wii remote when i have the accessories connected?
Q. I have just brought the wii accessories for the remote and don't no how to use the remote with them on as it covers the sensor on the remote? Please help Thanks.
Asked by Lauren T - Sat Jun 28 06:41:37 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You need to make sure that the remote is synced with the wii. Now add the accessories on. Please note that when a accessory is added, the pointer will not show up. This is because the sensor is blocked. You will have to press start on the game and then add the accessory. The controller then uses is accelerometer in the remote to put your action into the game!

Q. I don't wish to appear stupid, but my Mac is telling me I can download an update for remote desktop client. Don't know if I need one. I have a PC running Windows and a Mac running OS X (I think) and I have a router, a modem and a printer that both of them use. I have no idea what a remote desktop client is. Thanks for any help.

A. remote desktop is a tool that is used for help. for instance you can be having trouble with your pc, and using remote desktop someone can connect to your pc and have total control over your computer so they can fix the problem. So unless you use this or know how to use it, I wouldn't take the update. Would just be a waste of space and the version you have is probably good enough if you ever did need to use it.

My car remote control alarm is malfuntioning even after battery replacement, What do you think is the problem?
Q. My car was equipped with a remote control alarm (Venom). After a year of installation the remote controller became erratic, sometimes functioning sometimes not, sometimes I went around the car to get the right position before it works, until it malfunctioned totally. I try to replace the battery but to no avail. Thinking the remote controller already broke down, I decided to use the spare, and for more than a year I have no problem using it. However, since last week, I encounter similar problem with the first. Was it a problem with the remote controller or the car alarm unit itself? or the transmitter? Please help...thanks.

A. Maybe the problem is with the pairing i mean the serial n.o between the remote and the car if u open the remote inside you can see 6 digits n.o that n.o should be same as the n.o in the remote system inside the car check your user manual to know where it is located in the car and then you can open it and check the same n.o is there it will 100% work if the remote ok

A. RDP, (Remote Desktop Portal), works on a server client model. The PC you are remoting is the server, while you are on the client. You are connecting to your "server" or remote computer using the microsoft terminal services client. You can initiate this by typing mstsc from your run command and typing in the remote machines IP or FQDN. This will connect you to that PC in a fully virtual environment. To everyone else, it will look as your screen is locked, to you it will look like you are actually using your other PC. To enable remote connections, right click my computer and then "remote" tab. Check both options. Both client and server have to be on the same network. And I disagree, its not slow at all, it is free, and there are no… [cont.]

What would cause the remote control of my car not to open the trunk?
Q. I own a 2001 Toyota Celica, with a brand new battery. Recently, the remote control is not opening the trunk, although it still does open the driver's side door. What could be the cause of this? Would it be the remote control itself, or something to do with the car?
Asked by SueZCute - Mon Sep 7 15:49:13 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It is quite possible that the solenoid unit is inoperative. Open the trunk manually and then try the remote. If it works, the locking mechanism may need to be ajusted or lubed. If not, replace the solenoid.

What is the range of a remote entry system for an automobile?
Q. I just had a remote entry system installed in my 2001 Caravan and it won't work unless I'm about four feet from the driver's door. When I try to unlock the rear hatch, I have to go up near the front of the car before the doors unlock. If I have to get that close, I might as well go another few feet and put the key in the lock. I called the installer and they told me that remote entry systems aren't supposed to work at a distance, that's for alarm systems or remote start systems. This sounds like bull to me. Is it?
Asked by manerch - Mon Mar 19 17:12:57 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It is true that range isn't considered as important with keyless entry systems as remote start systems. With remote starts, you want to be able to start your car while you stay in your nice warm house. With a keyless entry system, it's enough that you can unlock it by the time you walk up to it. However, most after-market keyless entry systems have a better range than you're describing. The only time I've seen range as bad as that was in a factory system that used an infrared remote (like a TV remote controller). You can look for the antenna; there will either be a separate antenna piece made to stick to the upper part of the windshield (in which case your range should definitely be better than what you've described) or, more commonly, [cont.]

How can I program my remote control for my Harbor Breeze ceiling fan?
Q. I own a Harbor Breeze ceiling fan, and it is controlled mainly by remote control. In order to turn the light or fan on, I need to use the remote; the wall switch only controls if there is power going to it or not. Recently, I noticed the battery on my remote was dying (it has a little blinking indicator for low battery life). So, absent-mindendly of the consequences, I changed the battery. Now the remote won't work at all. Even though the numbers and such show up the same as usual, the fan unit doesn't respond. Do I need to reprogram the remote after switching the battery? And how would I go about doing that? The Control is a Harbor Breeze LCD Remote Control, if that helps.

A. This is a Lowes brand, and I tried searching, but their site is down now for maintenance. I would suggest starting with a trip to Lowes if you can't find the directions, or they don't help you, and you can't find any reset switches (there should be one on the fan, the remote, or both). Here is the link to the google search anyways...it isn't really helpful right now...but your answer may reside there if it becomes available any time soon.

A. Yes, you can buy a Universal remote and consolidate all your current remotes into one. The Universal will come with a code book and instructions on how to program it. You will need to look up the codes for each individual piece of equipment (by component type and brand name) and try each code listed until you find the right one. Sometimes it's the first code listed and other times you may have to try a few before you find the right one. If the brand of one of your components isn't listed, then you can still program it into the Universal provided that you have the original remote. You will have to "teach" the Universal what each button is by pointing the 2 remotes at each other and pressing each button individually. The Universal will then " [cont.]
