Will basic strategy still work if the casino cuts the deck all the time?
Q. I noticed that the dealer has someone(a player) cut the deck after the first half of the shoe is played. Can you still use basic strategy to gain advantage over the house?
Asked by somebody_0001 - Thu May 6 17:50:45 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Basic strategy isn't designed to gain an advantage over the house. It's designed to make the best possible play under the different scenarios, but there is still a house advantage. The only way to possibly tilt the advantage in the players favor (and only slightly) is to be an excellent card counter, and know how to adjust your bets based on the count.

What is the best strategy in internet marketing?
Q. If you are given one week deadline to make money online, what is your best strategy in achieving it?
Asked by Antondrive - Wed Sep 26 22:25:40 2007 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I would focus on advertising whatever you are going to sell, I would say that internet sales are a big place to start and that is about all the internet is good for money wise. You could sell some old household items on ebay, or purchase some things from overstock or another bulk location and re-sell them for a profit. The opportunities are endless just put a little thinking into it.

What is the best strategy against a quicker basketball team who can also shoot the ball?
Q. My friends and I are in a lower division basketball rec league. There is one team who should be in a much higher league but picked this league so that they could easily blow the other teams out, classy I know. What is the best strategy to at least compete with them? We do have a little size and we are probably the more physical team.
Asked by Marcus G - Mon Jun 22 12:00:01 2009 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The wrong thing to do is not run with them, the wrong thing to do is slow the game down too much and let them take full advantage of easy baskets, fast break and early offense points. Every zone no matter if its 1-3-1, 2-3, 3-2 is the exact same thing once the ball gets moving If they are faster they can take advantage of the gaps off the dribble making you guys suck in miss rotations and sooner or later getting the three point shot will be easier then it would be against a traditional man defense. The worse thing you can do against a god 3 point shooting team is play a zone. If their point guard is faster then yours, your wings will have to help on the dribble drive so their shooters can spot up in the gaps on both wings. you'll get blown… [cont.]

What is a good strategy to use when you get down to like 3 players in poker, the blinds are up?
Q. We play holdem and I'm ver conservative in the begging playing very little hands. I'll play like J9 off suit worst case scenario in late position type of conservative. I need a strategy for when It's down to three (and I'll usually be the short stack, but have enough to double up once or twice and be the chip leader). Thoughts?
Asked by billydwilliams - Fri Dec 8 19:16:39 2006 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. In the early game with a full table, being conservative pays off. In late game, being aggressive pays. Basically, you need to play hands you wouldn't dream of in the early game. Steal as many blinds as possible, otherwise you'll lose to a war of attrition if you're playing conservative. As always, though, you have to adapt your strategy based off of the other players at the table. If you're playing against other conservative players, raise as often as possible before the blind (just the minimum amount) to steal as many as you can get. If you're playing against aggressive players, re-raise them if you're the big blind to scare them off.

Is there a winning strategy in a standard game of dominoes?
Q. I think that in a game of 14x14 hex, there is a winning strategy for the first player. A "winning strategy" is awfully confusing for me to understand though. When it comes to a game of dominoes, is there a certain strategy that a player can take--particularly in a game with only two players--to effect a victory? In other words, is there an optimal way to win dominoes and become more of a professional player after practicing such a way?

A. I only play standard 6 dot.. I can win fairly often on my gameboy just by trying to controll one number. If you can control that number to where they have to draw frequently you can control the game.. usually by forcing a stalemate and having less points than them is the best way.

Q. In the game, 2 players star with a pile of counters, and take turns choosing a number from the set(repeats are allowed) to remove from the pile. The first person to leave 0 counters wins. The 4 numbers in the set: {1,2,6,9} Find who has the winning strategy for each number 1-35.

A. you've left out some of the rules. eg, i can just pick up all of 'em and win. what you've left out is that you can remove from 1 - N counters. so in any round, the 2 people can remove N+1 counters, with the 2nd person removing the compliment of the first. SO, what you do is divide the pile by (N+1), and remove the remainder each time, if you can do that. if you follow that rule every time, you'll win. if you can do that even once, you'll win, because the other player will not be able to to get back on track. on the other hand, one must assume that the other player also knows the rule, so if he manages to do it first, your goose is cooked. to make the game more challenging, you have multiple piles, with varying numbers of counters. when… [cont.]

What is the best breathing strategy when running?
Q. I get side pains when i am running. I also feel like i am not running as hard as i can because my breathing strategy is not good. Should i be breathing through my nose the whole time, or through my mouth the whole time, or should i breath in through my nose and out my mouth, or through my mouth and out my nose?

A. Well first make sure you are taking deep-ish breaths, not shallow like you are gasping for air. A good rule is to breathe in for two steps then out for two steps. It could be three if you want. As for your mouth and nose, its different for different runners. A lot of people say to breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth, which is okay. But if it's not comfortable for you then don't do it. If it's a pretty easy run then I think breathing in and out both through the nose is the easiest. I kind of breath in through my nose and out through both my nose and mouth together. It's weird. The only thing I would advise against is breathing in through your mouth too much. Mouths aren't really meant for breathing as much as noses are,… [cont.]

Q. I am asking regarding games, but at the same time we are currently at war and it would seem that any difference in concept is nonexistent. I have been dissatisfied with video games because the action seemed to pre-scripted, and it seemed that just beyond my ability to articulate was a clear difference between employing a strategy and devising and following a procedure.

A. procedure is doing the same thing with no changes. Strategy is looking at whatever your playing, and adapting to take total advantage of whatever happens. This is used in games like Risk and Axis and Allies.

What is a really good strategy to meet girls?
Q. I don't want the typical ones, like approach random girls, or join a yoga class. I'm tired of those. I want a good, unique strategy that may or may not work but I will be willing to try. I'm a college student, w/ no girl experience, and I do engineering so there are no girls in any of my classes. NONE. So tell me some really good strategies. Look, I said no typical answers, ok? Saying "go out more" or "just say hi" or "be yourself" isn't cutting it, and it isnt what I want to hear. I believe I heard answers like that four years ago, and if those had worked for me, I wouldn't be here. I need something creative and genius or at least unique and daring.

A. Make sure your wallet pops out of your pants while walking by, fake a conversation on your phone by saying that you are tired of being called 'the meat' for obvious reasons, all the time by your ex-girlfriends. Do this while you are seated next to some women. Pretend you didn't notice they were there. Mumble something with the key words: trust fund, credit card, diamond ring, provide for, abroad, yacht and Ferrari. You will attract ladies like flies. Success guaranteed.

A. There are numerous ways in which you can diversify your instruction in ways that will cater to both the ESL learner and a TAG learner. The traditional method of instruction is basical oral lecture from the instructor while students passively take notes based on the lecture. Some different ways: Teach a rhyme, song, or limmerick to help students remember a particular tricky grammar rule or a set of related ideas (e.g., "i before e except after c..." or the "Fifty Nifty United states" song written by Ray Charles). You can use content from a variety of levels so it applies to both TAG and ESL. Teach a different way of taking notes. Show your students how to lay out guided notes (make a chart with columns for idea titles, comments,… [cont.]
